July was another super hot month! his newsletter's highlights include news about a new bike safety and helmet awareness program, a view into some of our customers two wheeled adventures, a brief review of the Maxxis Ardent 29x2.4 skinwall tires, a recap of the weekly short track series and other race goings on, and some news about the 2018 Rockwood challenge!
I am most excited about the "Put a Lid On It" campaign about this month. We've worked with Louis Garneau Canada, the Correia & Collins Law firm, the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, and the Saint John Police Force to provide adult and youth helmets. This means that instead of giving a ticket to folks riding a bicycle without a helmet, the police can give out a helmet instead! What a cool program, and we are so happy to be able to contribute. Click here to read an article in the Telegraph Journal about the campaign!
Check out the gallery below to see some snaps of a client riding his Farley EX 8 on the back roads, ATV trails, and even fording a deep stream in the Loch Alva area!
Another customer recently picked up a set of Maxxis Ardent 29x2.4 EXO Tubeless ready tires, and loves them so far. Here's what he had to say after the initial ride:
"This is the first time I tried an Ardent as a rear tire. I was pleasantly surprised. Maintained grip on the tough loose climbs. Hooks up on hard corners no problem. On a single speed you’re out of the saddle a fair amount, and I was able to make it up some climbs with ease I normally have some spin out issues."
Skinwall is back, and it looks sooooo good!
And of course huge congrats to the youth series participants and winners!

August 4th and 5th saw the Canada Cup take place in Kentville, Nova Scotia, and MCS was well represented in the field. Congrats to Jason Lagace and Liam Dyker on their excellent finishes. Jason Lagace pushed hard to a remarkable 1st place finish in the Master Men's 40-49 category while Liam duked it out with the young guns to take fifth place in the U17 category! Huge congrats to them! Their hard work definitely paid off.
The Rockwood Challenge will take place this Sunday, August 19th! We love the trails that have historically been used, but Rockwood has so much to offer. So, for this year, the race will feature a completely new set of trails! Exact details will be provided soon, but suffice to say we are super excited to show off the excellent work the trail miners have been putting into the Park!
Speaking of which, the trail miners continue to make awesome improvements to our local trails. There are usually one or two builds scheduled per week, and everyone, including families with little ones, is welcome! Check out the the Saint John Cycling Facebook page for the specifics!
As always, check our Facebook for the most update info on events!
